The Flash Season 4 Episode 4: Barry Allen meets Elongated Man
Between the departure (off-screen) of Julian and the remoteness of Kid
Flash, this season 4 of the Flash can do with a little new blood. This fourth
episode directed by Tom Cavanagh arrives at the point to introduce us to the
new team member.
Investigating
the famous bus passengers who gained powers, Barry Allen and Joe West
reconnecting with an old friend by the name of Ralph Dibny. His name has
been mentioned in season 1, but this is getting us nowhere.
Since then,
Flashpoint is been there, the excuse in gold for the writers to hide their
forgetfulness.
In
any case, here we meet Ralph, an ex-COP turned private investigator who is not
Barry in his heart. And of course, it is a Metahuman.
The
character actually looks like a cross between Julian and Kid Flash, to amend
somewhat the dynamics of group.
Before
that, Ralph has problems to solve, and Barry have to realize that the man whom
he ruined the career is perhaps not rot that he thought he was.
The
writers of the Flash are determined to make amends in this season 4.
First by aiming more cartoony in order to offer more humour and then accepting
that Barry's decisions, as well-intentioned as they are, have had disastrous
consequences.
If
we are regularly close to caricature, The Flash delivers nevertheless a fun
episode, wouldn't it, because having someone who does not like Barry is always
entertaining to watch.
Ralph
is presented both as a guy who made some questionable choices, but it doesn't
make him a bad person.
It
has a special energy that changes the registry in which we sail. And in all
honesty, the Flash Team can do with a detective over. This is not the area in
which she shines most!
This
desire to reconnect with the lightness beginnings pushes the creative team to
diversify its storylines to develop in the present case the privacy of Cisco.
Specifically,
he acquainted with the Gypsy father played by Danny Trejo, who
has, apparently, for hobby to eliminate the little friends of her daughter.
Of
course, with Cisco, the humor card is played as often as possible
without really giving this meeting minimal emotional weight or a more serious
problem.
The
Gypsy father in person looks like an excuse to give birth to situations
with the goal to create a few smiles and laughter.
This
episode of The Flash continues in any case reconstruction initiated by
the creative team to restore color to the series after the difficult events of
the season 3.
A
few changes in the Team, a bit of new blood and a desire to escape the tragedy
left
go to exaggeration form then these 45 minutes light and friendly.
