The American company Uber tries to bounce back after being shaken by several scandals since the beginning of the year.

On Sunday, the board of Directors appointed a new director general, replacing Travis Kalanick, one of the platform's cofounders, pushed to resign in June. His successor is Dara Khosrowshahi, the former CEO of Expedia, the online travel booking platform.

Dara Khosrowshahi had taken the lead from Expedia in 2005 and has contributed greatly since its expansion, notably through acquisitions. Expedia is one of the largest online tour operators in the world, with a galaxy of sites offering to book hotel rooms, airfare or rental cars like Hotels.com, Trivago, etc. A native of Iran, Dara Khosrowshahi is also a member of the New York Times Steering Committee since 2015.

Several American media had earlier on Sunday mentioned the imminent appointment of the CEO of Hewlett - Packard, Meg Whitman. For its part, the former CEO of General Electric (GE), Jeff Immelt, whose names appeared among the many potential patrons of Uber, had announced last Sunday that he was no longer a candidate.

Dara Khosrowshahi should be named officially in the week. He arrives at the head of Uber in a very complicated context for the company.

This appointment of a new CEO is intended to raise the profile of Uber who started back taxis in many countries, authorities regulatory and even drivers themselves who regularly denounce their conditions of work and remuneration. It will also straighten the accounts for a long time in the red.

The transport platform is facing economic difficulties, with notably a sling of the drivers, who have repeatedly protested the reduction in their income.

In January, the video of Travis Kalanick, former boss of Uber, making morality a ruined driver was deeply shocked. He ended up apologizing.

Travis Kalanick, co-founder of Uber resigned on 21 June, after accusations of sexism and harassment against senior executives of the giant of the car rental with driver. Known for his jokes about his female conquests, he was accused of having himself encouraged a culture conducive to the skids.
