Kidnapping is not a matter of culture, but not all nations are necessarily equal in the face of kidnapping. India is thus in good place among the most affected territories and several tens of thousands of children are thus disappearing every year there.

If these various initiatives helped to rescue several hundred children, they are unfortunately not sufficient. Kidnappings are still numerous, and even more in the many slums stretching across the territory.

The rogue groups responsible for these operations exploit their victims in different ways. Children from the poorest families usually end up on the sidewalk. As for boys and girls from wealthy families, they are generally subject to a ransom demand.

Normally, the kidnappers prefer to ask for money in cash, but it seems to be about to change. According to the Indian Express, a group specialized in kidnapping and ransom requests would have indeed chosen to no longer seek payments in cash, but in bitcoins in order to cover their tracks. The criminals in question have indeed removed a trader in last May and they then contacted his family and friends to ask them to carry out the payment of 20 coins in Exchange for the release of their hostage, either a sum around $45,000 by applying rates currently in effect.

Several cases reported in India, Brazil and Hong Kong

the value of Bitcoin revolves around the $2 577 at the moment.

However, this trend is not confined to Indian territory. Earlier in the year, a woman of Brazilian origin was abducted from her home by kidnappers and the latter subsequently demanded a ransom from her husband, a local businessman. Once again, they asked for the payment to be made in bitcoins so that they could not be traced back to them.

Similar stories have taken place in Hong Kong or even in Taiwan.

However, it would seem that this technique is not quite unstoppable. The kidnappers of the Indian trader were indeed brought before the court after the payment of their ransom.
