It is now a tradition at Google: This eighth Android Grind is named after a confectionery, this time the famous Oreo American biscuits.
The new version of Android starts to be deployed on Google smartphones. She was officially named Android Oreo.
The Android 8 Oreo update is starting to be pushed on the Google terminals: The Pixel, Nexus 5 x and 6 p. On the side of other manufacturers of Android phones (Samsung, Sony, Huawei, HTC, LG ...), it should be made available by the end of the year. Everyone will communicate on their own deployment roadmap.

What's new in Android O ?
Android O brings a lot of novelties and APIs (see details on the official Google page). Here are the most salient:
- Google changes the architecture of its operating system. Objective displayed: Ensure that updates "are easier, faster, and cheaper" for device manufacturers.
- Notifications are evolving, with parameters paving the way to more customization. For example, the user can choose what type of notification it wishes to receive from each application (like, new messages...). Notifications can also be pushed to appear later. - The ability to automatically activate the wi - fi at the approach of a "reliable" is introduced.
- The tasks carried out in the background by the apps are automatically limited, which should have positive effects on the autonomy of the batteries.
- The apps have icons more flexible, with Visual effects. They can take different forms according to the terminals.
- A Picture mode in Picture (which is part of the tradition of the multi-windows) should continue to watch a video in a floating window, while using another application in full screen.
- A new "multi-monitor" support allows apps that support multi-window mode to toggle from one screen to another.
- Material improvements must significantly accelerate the start-up of the devices.
- New ways to navigate the keyboard, through the Arrows and TAB key, are supported. This is a step closer to the expected fusion between Android and Chrome OS.
- A framework of "autofill" is integrated to facilitate the entry of forms (for the creations of accounts, identifications and payments by credit card...).
- A new "Vitals" (in Play) feature is designed to help app developers detect problems likely to affect the safety or autonomy.
-The WebView, which allows apps to use Chrome, should gain in stability – thanks to new APIs (Google SafeBrowsing API for example).
For businesses, Google promises new opportunities for profile and terminal management.
Android 8: Release date
Google had unveiled the first beta of Android Oreo on May 17 last during its Google I/O event. The final version of Android Oreo has just been presented. It should start to be deployed on some models of smartphones in the next few weeks.

Android O" is indeed, as expected, to version "8" Google mobile system. From versions 4.X of Android, the pace of release of new versions of the mobile OS was accelerated and stabilized, with a major update of the OS by year. Android 5 Lollipop was released in November 2014, Android 6 Marshmallow in fall 2015, and Android 7 Nougat at the end of the summer 2016. The arrival of Android Oreo 8 is therefore not a surprise.
Google has, as usual, chosen the name of a candy for Android 8, naming it Oreo, in reference to a sandwich biscuit produced by the American brand Nabisco.
