Facebook launches groups for pages dedicated to "super fans"


Facebook has announced the deployment of a new category of groups: groups for pages. They can be created by administrators, and must allow pages, brands, and fans to talk between - them in dedicated areas.

Chris Cox, responsible for product at Facebook, these new groups are a kind of 'fan club': If you are year artist, a business, a brand, or a newspaper, you can now create fan clubs and groups centered around your super-fans

Facebook shows the interest of these groups explaining the use made by the Washington Post. The American media are used to create exchanges between journalists and the most committed readers. More natural discussions can emerge as the exchanges are not public. These groups may have very different purposes.

Brands can create programs ambassadors for their fans. Businesses will be able to create spaces of discussion with their employees. Artists will be able to talk to their fans...


The possibilities offered are really endless. Mark Zuckerberg always quick to show the ability of Facebook to do the good takes as for him the example of the page AddictionUnscripted, which has a group of 45 000 person to help the fans and allow them to exchange on their addiction.  With 70 million pages, the number of potential groups is gigantic.

This update shows that the groups are not dead, quite the contrary, and that they will have to rely on them in terms of social media strategy. The groups are available for all pages today.
