The virtual reality headset Daydream View from Google was launched with great communication reinforcement. Yet the VR helmet is disappointing at the moment. Very few phones are officially compatible and the headset is available for sale in France only by import. We offer you however a simple tutorial to use a smartphone compatible with virtual reality with the virtual reality headset of Google.
To make your smartphone compatible with daydream, you must meet certain conditions. First, your phone must be equipped with the Android Nougat operating system. It must also have the necessary sensors for virtual reality such as an accelerator, a gyroscope and a compass. Finally note that, the higher the screen resolution, the powerful processor and the large amount of memory, the more VR experience will be good. The AMOLED screens are as better than the LCD screens.
Be careful , the proposed tutorial included that your phone is "rooted". This manipulation can make some applications incompatible and can cause a possible loss of warranty of your device. The following steps to make your smartphone compatible with daydream is:
- Install root Explorer, Google VR services, and Google Daydream applications that you can find on the Google store.
- Edit the URhandheld_core_hardware.xml file that is located in the/system/etc./permissions/directory using root Explorer.
- Look for the tag saying "root Permissions" and add exactly the following line of code (a copied/pasted is preferable): Save the file after the line of code is inserted and restart your phone so that the changes are taken into account.
